May the 4th Be With You Wedding
May 4th is a day many consider to be the unofficial-official Star Wars Days to celebrate George Lucas’s Star Wars media franchise. As self-declared nerds in the Wedding World, we thought that today would be the best day to post about this absolutely fantastic Star Wars and Fairy Tale inspired wedding.
We absolutely love weddings that showcase the bride and groom’s personalities and love. This amazing couple obviously have a love of Disney and Star Wars with their fun and unique tid-bits found throughout the wedding design.
One of my favorite unique design inclusions was the Millennium Falcon crashing into their bright 3 tiered colored cake. Other Disney and Star Wars design elements that this couple included into their wedding design were the Disney Princess inspired Table Numbers, their “Up” Guest Book, and the Disney Movie fairy light lanterns.
Outside of their use of Disney and Star Wars decorations, I really loved the bright colors they used for their design. Many weddings we have seen recently have been less bold in their color choices using pastels and neutral colors for their design. The bright teal, pinks and oranges for their wedding colors was a welcome respite from the neutrals and pastels.
However, nothing beats the surprise that their Photographers planned for them- a surprise guest video appearance by C. Andrew Nelson (A.K.A. Darth Vader himself!). Check out the video! May the Fourth Be With You!
Check out the Question and Answers from the Bride:
Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
A: We are huge Disney fans and wanted all the decorations related to Disney fairytales.
Q: Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
A: Our venue had a lot of natural beauty so a lot of decorations wasn’t needed. We did make of the center pieces for the tables. Each table had a lantern with silhouettes of different Disney characters.
Q: What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
A: The florals for our wedding were bold colored pink and orange roses with an accent of snapdragons. The bridesmaids were just the bold orange and pink flowers while the bridal bouquet also had a mix of white roses.
Q: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
A: We had a photo booth for our guest. They had a blast taking pictures with all the props! Some of our favorite parts of our wedding was the surprise video of actor who voices darth vadar congratulating us and doing the chicken dance with all our guests.
Q: Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
A: The groom and groomsmen were dressed in black with a teal tie and vest and pink pocket square. The bridesmaids were in long teal dresses with pink and orange bouquet. My dress had a sweetheart bodice and huge skirt. I accented my look with a beaded hair piece and a cathedral veil.
Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
A: Tj and I meet through the online dating app Bumble. We were pretty much inseparable after the first date. It was an instant connection. Tj proposed on a beach in Yorktown. We took a nice walk down the beach then he popped the question.
Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
A: Our most anticipated moment was our first dance. We had ended up taking dance lessons and were excited to show off what we had learned. Our dance instructor had put in several spins and dips so I felt as much as fairytale princess as possible. Another one of our special moments was when I got to polka with my grandfather. My sister started that at her wedding and I was lucky enough to be able to do it too.
Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
A: Having a wedding binder was one of the best things I got myself to keep everything organized. Our venue had a vendor event which was super helpful at getting the vendors we needed and most had worked together before. I feel like that made our day run super smooth. Make sure you enjoy every moment, the day will fly by!
