Daytona Beach Crystal Ballroom Wedding on Cinco de Mayo
The couple:
Amanda and LeShawn wanted a beachfront wedding with New Jersey vibes. Specifically, Amanda’s mother mentioned that she wanted the vendors they hired to live up to the “Jersey standards” Their planner agreed to make the Jersey vibe happen but with one concession, since they were having their event on Cinco de Mayo they would serve tacos during cocktail hour.
The ceremony:
Amanda and LeShawn agreed and their special day could not have gone any better. I especially like their sweets bar that complimented a very beautiful three tiered cake from Sprinkles Cakes! They performed a sand ceremony and Jumped the Broom! The Jumping of the Broom is especially significant because the act of jumping the broom refers to an “irregular marriage”. Often historically the jumping over the broomstick ceremony was performed by African-American communities who in the 19th century were not allowed to be legally married. Nowadays the ceremony has many attached meanings and is a popular part of weddings even where it has no cultural significance.
The venue:
If you are looking for a bright and elegant venue near Daytona Beach then look no further than The Crystal Ballroom at Sunset Harbor. Decorated with an elegant ceremony space and formal dining room the crystal ballroom has plenty of room for small and midsize groups to enjoy the event! The arguably best part about this venue is its back dock/deck area where couples and guests can visit for great pictures and scenic sunsets.
