Designing Your Wedding
How do you create the perfect wedding design? Like this gorgeous styled shoot- you start with a location. Now I know what you are all thinking- “What?! Location? Not color?”- am I right? Yes, the answer is location. Why? Because Location can impact the choice of your color.
This styled shoot had an absolutely gorgeous location, so I’m sure they could have chosen any color scheme they could have dreamed of. However, let’s say they decided to go with a ballroom in an art museum. And this ballroom happens to have large dirty-yellow curtains? Now, you could do most color schemes here but I don’t think that a chocolate and tiffany blue themed design would look great with the dirty yellow curtains.
Since your location is one of the higher cost items for your wedding starting there is a great way to be able to better understand your budget along with what you can do to the space to make it yours. And if you don’t have access to something- make it yourself! This styled shoot has a gorgeous wooden covering and farm wood tables that they created in order to make their dreams a reality.
Words from the Photographer
This styled shoot took place at the Gov. Thomas Bennett House in Charleston, SC. It’s one of the most popular wedding venues in the Low-country. The house was built in circa 1825 and features an Oyster tabby surface on the reception lawn with a stunning walled fountain perfect for the reception, a large piazza overlooking the fountain and brick courtyard which is often used as the ceremony location and gardens featuring manicured lawns and seasonal plantings which is the most romantic place for cocktail hours.
The girls from We Do! Charleston did an amazing job planning and setting up this styled shoot. They worked with many local vendors as well as custom built a lot of details themselves . For example the 2x 8 foot wooden farm table and the greenery covered structure above it which brought the feeling of the inside of a tent space to the area. Also they had custom made monograms which you could find in the details throughout the shoot. Also hand dyed silk ribbon for the flat lays. The main theme was romantic and southern and the color scheme was dusty blue and purple. We had different stations with multiple brides and grooms as well as bridesmaids.
