Modern Black Tie Wedding at South Congress Hotel
This was an absolutely gorgeous modern black tie wedding shot by Nikk Nguyen Photography. Our favorite parts about the wedding was the gorgeous modern black tie look that Big Time Creatives, Remi & Gold, Audrey & Matthew created together.
So what are the steps to creating a modern black tie wedding?
First, is understanding the modern look. Modern style furnishings and decor celebrate natural materials, neutral or earthy colors, and the elimination of unnecessary detailing. So when designing modern, think about reducing the amount of items and random decorations or detailing that you need.
Find a nice backdrop at your wedding that you don’t have to change- like big glass windows for this wedding- and make that your ceremony spot. Choose a neutral color scheme- like white and black- and add greenery as your “additional color”. When choosing your attire such as dress, tux and bridesmaid dresses, look for simple elegance with little to no details of lace or beading in neutral colors.
For black tie, think fancy. He’ll definitely have to wear a tux, not a suit. Same goes for his groomsmen. The bridesmaids will need to wear long dresses and expect to wear heels. And you’ll need to let your guests know that they should expect a formal event with long dresses, suits with ties, and have your wait staff dress in all black with ties.
Then feel free to add on anything you love- like fancy donuts for your dessert bar. Or a cool photo booth like this couple did for their wedding!
Words from the Photographer:
The South Congress Hotel has been one of the most unique wedding venues I’ve been able to photograph in. I don’t think there’s anywhere quite like it; with its modern flair and inviting atmosphere. Likewise, I haven’t met any two people as endearing as Audrey and Matthew. I really enjoyed working with this beautiful pair to help capture moments that will be looked back on for a lifetime.
The amount of creativity that went into this wedding can’t be overstated. The venue perfectly set the stage, the decor and florals were woven throughout seamlessly, while the dapper attire couldn’t have been more ideal; and right in the center of it all was the stunning bride and groom. It was a brilliant event. And don’t worry about the swanky attire slowing down the night, these guys know how to party!
