Rocky Mountain Bohemian Wedding Inspiration

What makes a bohemian wedding? We’ve all gone through pinterest and loved Bohemian wedding items, right? But what makes them boho? To better understand the boho style, I looked up the history of boho / bohemian.

Boho is a fashion trend and lifestyle ideology that is an alternative to the traditional way of dressing along with a more liberated lifestyle and social stance that is against pretty much everything mainstream, from materialism to social constraints. It started out in the 18th century in the French Revolution with artists and creatives who were forced into poverty. Their fashion choices were lots of patches, used clothes and of a mixed matched variety of colors and patterns.

You remember the movie the Hunchback of Notre Dame, right? Well, Esmerelda would have been amongst this group of creatives and artists forced into poverty which were known as gypsies, or in other terms… bohemians.

While the trend of fashion started out with necessity, over the years it has evolved into more of a social stance that represents the type of lifestyle that those wearing the clothes wish to portray. The style oh boho, came back into mainstream awareness during the 60’s and 70’s in the fashion of hippies! These hippies were against mainstream norms and wanting to express their differences in lifestyle contrasting to the norm.

Their choice of camping equipment during the shoot especially pulls off the non-traditional lifestyle and brand that is boho. Not to mention the use of suede, lace and color palette.
